Production

The production is land-based and is based on the most modern, proven technology called RAS. RAS stands for “Recirculation Aquaculture System”. RAS is a fully automated facility that ensures ideal conditions for fish farming regarding animal welfare, health, and growth. No antibiotics, chemicals, or other additives are used. The recirculation system uses a minimum of water, and the fish sludge is 100 percent organic and used as fertilizer in the fields. Glass eels are purchased when they reach a weight of 0.3 grams and are grown to 3 grams in RAS 1, after which they are released. In RAS 2, 3-gram eels are grown until they reach 20 grams, after which they are sold to eel farmers in Northern Europe.

Morsø Eel Farm

The eel farm, which was closed down many years ago, is located at Teglgårdsvej 25, Nykøbing Mors, about 2 km north of the town and a stone's throw from the water. The local plan for the area stipulates that the area can only be used for aquaculture purposes. In a broader perspective, this means that there is an opportunity to expand the farm. The buildings are in reasonable condition and it is an ideal opportunity to realize DASEE's plans. DASEE has a long-term lease agreement with an option to extend. A renovation project is in place for the establishment of state-of-the-art production facilities. How quickly we can get started depends on grants from foundations, crowdfunding, and sponsorships. We aim for production to be underway by June 1, 2027. The planned facility has an annual capacity to farm 2 million glass eels in sizes ranging from 3 to 20 grams.
